Origin

The Head Band strain was created in California, USA, by crossing two legendary strains: OG Kush and Sour Diesel.

This powerful hybrid inherits the best genetics from Chemdawg, Northern Lights, and Skunk, resulting in a potent and well-balanced strain. Its origin lies in the cannabis breeding hubs of the West Coast, where some of the most popular strains have been developed.

Whether sourced from American or European seed banks, Head Band feminized seeds guarantee high quality plants. The strain’s solid genetic background provides growers with consistent performance, making it a favorite among cultivators and users alike.

OG Kush Strain

OG Kush has a pungent, earthy, and sweet aroma and a sweet, citrusy flavor. The buds are dense and covered with trichomes. OG Kush is also known to increase appetite.

Sour Diesel Strain

Sour Diesel is a mostly sativa hybrid strain that is believed to have originated in the early 1990s in New York City. It is a popular strain for its strong cerebral effects and energizing high. Sour Diesel has a pungent diesel aroma and a sweet and earthy flavor. The buds are dense and covered with trichomes. The effects are uplifting and stimulating, producing a sense of euphoria and creativity.

At the High Times Cannabis Cup 2009, Headband secured 3rd Place for Best Coffeeshop Flower, highlighting its popularity within Amsterdam’s competitive coffeeshop scene.

More recently, at the Emerald Cup 2022, Headband claimed 1st Place in the Greenhouse category, reaffirming its elite genetic profile and continued relevance among modern cultivators.

Headband Strain Sativa or Indica?

The Head Band strain is a hybrid that leans slightly toward the indica side 50% Indica / 50% Sativa. With its lineage from OG Kush and Sour Diesel, this strain provides a balanced mix of effects. The indica dominance delivers a soothing, relaxing body high, while the sativa influence from Sour Diesel brings a mild cerebral uplift.

This combination makes Head Band cannabis seeds perfect for users looking for a strain that offers relaxation without feeling overly sedative. It’s ideal for unwinding at the end of the day or managing stress while still maintaining mental clarity.

Head Band Effects

The effects of the Head Band strain are well-balanced and long lasting. Users often experience a gentle pressure around the forehead (hence the name) accompanied by a soothing wave of relaxation. Its indica genetics provide a calming body high, while the sativa component offers mental clarity and mood elevation.

How to Grow Head Band Strain?

Head Band Feminized seeds can be grown indoors or outdoors under optimal conditions, to avoid any problems during their development. Although they are compact and robust, moderately easy to grow and hardy, we should always prevent any pests.

You can use different growing methods to retain and enhance the terpenes and flavors of your Head Band strain buds.

• Use a quality substrate. Perlite, peat, or coco coir are ideal for moisture retention.
• Thanks to the experience of our customers with our Head Band seeds, we know that we can increase yields up to 20%.

For optimal indoor cultivation, Blimburn Seeds advises wide, vertical spaces and the use of the ScrOG method to obtain a uniform plane and increase the size of the lower flowers. If you plan to grow our Feminized seeds outdoors, we have developed a grow guide for optimal cultivation in any area of the world.

Remember that our cannabis plants also need good nutrients when our Feminized seeds are seedlings, in their vegetative period, and in their flowering period.

When you grow cannabis seeds outdoors, choose the best date for your crop and a place where your cannabis plants will receive the most hours of sunshine. If you like to grow your Feminized seeds indoors, you will need good tents, textile pots for growing, LED lighting, an air extractor to circulate clean air, and of course a good carbon filter to avoid problems with neighbors or the law. Keep daytime temperatures between 68℉-80℉ and nighttime temperatures around 7℉-9℉ cooler.

Feminized plants need low humidity to thrive. Keep relative humidity (RH) levels at 55%-60% during the vegetative phase. Reduce RH to around 40% during the flowering phase. By harvest time, you can reduce RH to 30%.

Outdoors, growers in the northern hemisphere should sow their cannabis seeds in April for harvest in mid-October. Healthy Head Band seeds produce about 19.40 – 21.16 oz/plant | 550 – 600 g/plant of buds each.

Indoors, these crops have a flowering time of 8 – 10 weeks and produce about 1.47 – 1.64 oz/ft² | 450 – 500 gr/m².

Ideal Climate for Cultivating

Head Band cannabis strain flourishes in a Mediterranean or temperate continental climate, characterized by hot summers and mild autumns. This climate provides the best conditions for the strain’s unique genetics to express fully. The optimal temperature for growing Head Band is between 70–85°F (21–29°C), which ensures the plant’s vigorous growth. It’s important to have a location that provides consistent sunlight and well draining soil, as Head Band plants require these conditions to prevent root decay and promote robust growth.

For growers in the U.S., the states that offer suitable climates include California, Nevada, Arizona, Oregon, Washington, Texas, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. These states provide the best conditions due to their generally hot climates and mild winters, with consistent sunlight year round.

Cannabis seeds are sold for collection and genetic preservation. Check the law in your country before germinating them.
