Power-free irrigation for pots, trays and grow bags with AutoPot Tray2Grow

The AutoPot Tray2Grow is a versatile automatic irrigation system for indoor and outdoor growing that operates without electricity, pumps or mains water pressure. An AQUAvalve5 controls the flow from an elevated reservoir, using gravity to supply the tray. Depending on the setup, you can use Tray2Grow with grow bags, coco slabs, pots, seed trays, microgreens or a suitable planter, making it useful from propagation through to larger established plants.

AQUAvalve5 controls the water supply without electricity

The AQUAvalve5 sits in a dedicated compartment at one end of the tray and regulates the incoming water automatically. All you need for operation is a suitable elevated reservoir. A compatible AutoPot reservoir can be connected using the supplied 9 mm pipe and click-fit filter. Further systems, components and extensions are available in the AutoPot irrigation range.

Two irrigation methods for different growing containers

For pots, seed trays and planters, the capillary matting is laid across the Tray2Grow base with the root control sheet positioned above it. Moisture is then drawn upwards through capillary action into the growing medium. Pots and trays therefore need holes in their bases so that the growing medium can make effective contact with the surface underneath.

Grow bags and coco slabs can be irrigated using the supplied capillary spikes. Strips of capillary material draw water from the tray channels towards the growing medium. If you require a larger continuous root zone, Tray2Grow can also be combined with the AutoPot Tray2Grow Planter.

Useful from propagation to established plants

Four seed trays are included alongside the components needed for both irrigation methods. When setting up newly planted pots, trays or grow bags, they should first be watered from above. Allow the plants to use some of this initial moisture before activating the Tray2Grow water supply. The tray should also be positioned level for reliable operation; three supplied circular spirit levels help with accurate alignment.
