Lineage True OG strain

True OG is a select phenotype of OG Kush, a mostly Indica strain (70% Indica / 30% Sativa). It tends to show a citrus, lemon, pine and skunk flavor with a strong, mostly Indica body high.

It also carries a High THC of 23% – 27%, making it a great choice for anyone looking for a strong, relaxing experience.

Origin

True OG has its roots firmly in the United States, originating in California, where it quickly earned a reputation for potent effects and a classic OG aroma. It is a direct descendant of the OG Kush family, known for its strong, enduring lineage.

As its popularity spread globally, breeders in both America and Europe developed their own versions, keeping True OG a staple in the cannabis community. Its rich history is a testament to its lasting appeal and exceptional quality.

True OG Strain Awards

True OG has consistently proven its value in high-level cannabis competitions, earning recognition for its classic OG structure, potency and terpene profile.

At the High Times Cannabis Cup, True OG secured 2nd Place in the Indica category in 2009 and repeated that result in 2012, 2013 and 2014, an exceptional four-time runner-up record that highlights its consistency in one of the most demanding categories.

More recently, at the Emerald Cup 2018, True OG took 2nd Place in the Outdoor Mix category, further demonstrating its strength in full-term outdoor cultivation. These repeated podium finishes reinforce True OG’s reputation as a stable, competition-proven OG genetic with enduring appeal.

True OG Sativa or Indica?

True OG is a predominantly indica strain (70% Indica / 30% Sativa), known for the strong, relaxing effects characteristic of the indica family. It delivers a deeply calming experience, perfect for unwinding after a long day. Where sativa strains tend to be more energizing and cerebral, True OG’s indica dominance leans toward rest, relaxation and overall tranquility, which also makes it a popular choice for anyone looking to ease fatigue, muscle tension and everyday stress.

True OG Strain Effects

The effects of True OG are notably happy, relaxed and talkative, a favorite among indica lovers. Users often report a soothing body high that eases tension and stress, alongside a gentle euphoria that lifts the mood. It is perfect for evening use, with a soothing character that can help ease into restful sleep, and many also reach for it to take the edge off physical discomfort.

True OG Seeds Flowering Time

True OG typically flowers in around 8 to 10 weeks, relatively quick for an indica-dominant plant. Growers appreciate its resilience and the dense, resinous buds it produces. Indoors it can yield a generous harvest with proper care, and outdoor growers also find success, particularly in warmer climates. That short flowering period, combined with its robust nature, makes True OG an attractive option for novice and experienced growers alike.

How to grow True OG strain?

True OG seeds can be grown indoors or outdoors under optimal conditions, to avoid any problems during their development. Although they are moderately easy to grow and hardy, we should always prevent any pests.

You can use different growing methods to retain and enhance the terpenes and flavors of your feminized True OG buds.

• Use a quality substrate. Perlite, peat or coco coir are ideal for moisture retention.
• Thanks to the experience of our customers with our feminized True OG seeds, we know that we can increase yields by up to 20%.

For optimal indoor cultivation, Blimburn Seeds advises wide, vertical spaces and the use of the ScrOG method to obtain a uniform canopy and increase the size of the lower flowers. If you plan to grow our feminized seeds outdoors, we have developed a grow guide for optimal cultivation in any area of the world.

Remember that our plants also need good nutrients as seedlings, in their vegetative period and finally in their flowering period.

When growing outdoors, choose the best date for your crop and a place where the plants receive the most hours of sunshine. If you prefer to grow indoors, use good tents, textile pots, led lighting, an air extractor to circulate clean air and, of course, a good carbon filter to avoid problems with neighbors or the law.

Keep daytime temperatures between 68-80 ℉ and nighttime temperatures 7 to 9 ℉ cooler than the day.

Feminized plants need low humidity to thrive. Keep relative humidity (RH) at 55%-60% during the vegetative phase, reduce it to around 40% during flowering and to about 30% by harvest.

Outdoors, growers in the Northern Hemisphere should sow in April to harvest in mid October, with each healthy plant producing about 7.05 – 10.58 oz/plant | 200 – 300 gr/plant. Indoors, these crops have a flowering time of 8 – 10 weeks and produce about 1.31 – 1.64 oz/ft² | 400 – 500 gr/m².

Ideal Climate for Growing

True OG flourishes in a warm, temperate climate with consistent sunlight and moderate humidity. For optimal growth, the ideal temperature range is approximately 70-80 ℉ (21-27 ℃), which nurtures the plant’s robust character while preventing heat or cold stress.

It does best at elevations below 3,000 feet, where conditions are most favorable. Plenty of direct sunlight throughout the growing season is key to a bountiful harvest.

In the United States, ideal states include California, Oregon, Nevada, Arizona and Texas, which typically enjoy warm summers and mild winters. Regions of Florida and Georgia can also deliver good results thanks to their long growing seasons. With the right environment and temperature management, growers can secure the best outcomes for their True OG crops.

What does the strain smell like?

The buds of True OG are rock hard, soaked in resin and carry a crystalline sheen from the sheer amount of trichomes. Its taste and aroma are a classic OG blend of citrus, lemon, pine and skunk, with a sour-diesel edge over a damp, earthy undertone.

True OG makes a delicious, smooth smoke and delivers a strong, relaxing experience. Thanks to its large resin production, it is also an ideal strain for high quality extracts and concentrates.

Experiencing the strain

True OG is a High-THC strain of 23% – 27% that brings a happy, relaxed and talkative state. This mostly Indica marijuana settles the body into a deep, comfortable calm while keeping the mood bright and sociable, so it can make anyone feel cheerful and at ease.

It is perfect to enjoy in the evening after a long day. The plant has a mostly Indica structure, with a sturdy stem that supports its branches, and can be grown both indoors and outdoors, with a higher yield when it gets plenty of hours of sunshine outdoors.
